U.S. Military Tanks Prepare for Independence Day Parade in Washington, DC

U.S. military tanks are parked along the National Mall in Washington, DC, Thursday, July 4, ahead of the Fourth of July festivities where U.S. President Donald Trump has promised the “show of a lifetime.”

President Donald Trump is scheduled to address the nation from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial on Thursday evening for the Independence Day celebrations.

The president has directed the Pentagon to provide military vehicles, including tanks and fighter jets, for display at the celebrations. The order has sparked worries that the weight of the vehicles could damage the infrastructure on the National Mall and in the surrounding area.
