Sudan Protestors Condemn Violence

Dozens of demonstrators, including students, took to the streets of Khartoum Tuesday, July 30, to condemn the killing of four school children and an adult in the Sudanese city of El-Obeid the day before.
The children’s deaths came at a time of heightened tension between Sudan’s military rulers and the main opposition coalition, which called for nationwide protests in response.
The head of Sudan’s ruling military council, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, said there must be immediate accountability over the incident. Acting governor of North Kordofan, General al-Sadiq al-Tayeb Abdallah, said Monday, July 29 that a committee will be investigating the killings. (Reuters)
