Trump Slams CBS ‘60 Minutes’ After Greene Interview, Demands Apology From Lesley Stahl
WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump sharply criticized CBS’ “60 Minutes” on Monday, declaring that the program’s new ownership is “no better” than the old after correspondent Lesley Stahl interviewed Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, whom Trump has recently labeled a “traitor.
In a lengthy post on Truth Social, Trump called Greene a “low IQ traitor” and said the Sunday broadcast proved the network has “actually gotten WORSE” since Paramount Global — CBS’ parent company — merged with Skydance Media earlier this year.
“My real problem with the show, however, wasn’t the low IQ traitor, it was that the new ownership of 60 Minutes, Paramount, would allow a show like this to air,” Trump wrote.
Trump renewed his long-standing demand that Stahl and “60 Minutes” apologize for her 2020 on-air dismissal of his claims about the Hunter Biden laptop. During Trump’s October 2020 interview, Stahl told the then-president the laptop story could not be verified and suggested it might be Russian disinformation — a characterization later proven incorrect after the laptop’s contents were authenticated.
“I hereby demand a complete and total APOLOGY, though far too late to be meaningful, from Lesley Stahl and 60 Minutes for her incorrect and Libelous statements about Hunter’s Laptop!!!” Trump wrote.
The president also used the post to attack Greene, who announced last week that she will resign from Congress next month amid a public feud with Trump. He claimed her appearance showed she is “not AMERICA FIRST or MAGA.”
The criticism comes months after Trump settled a lawsuit against CBS over the network’s editing of a 2024 “60 Minutes” interview with then-Vice President Kamala Harris. The case was resolved in July with CBS agreeing to pay Trump $16 million.
CBS and Paramount did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the president’s latest statements.
