Trump: Formal Announcement on Recapture of IS Territory Expected Next Week
February 6, 2019, 9:36 PM
U.S. President Donald Trump said Wednesday he expected a formal announcement as early as next week that a U.S.-led coalition fighting Islamic State militants has reclaimed all of the territory the extremist group held two years ago. Trump acknowledged that remnants of the terrorist group may remain active in parts of Syria and Iraq, but said they can no longer extract national resources or tax local civilians to fund their fight.
