Radiation briefly spiked in northern Russia today after an accidental military explosion near Nyonoska, around 20 miles from Severodvinsk. Get the latest details in our LIVE COVERAGE.
The Russian defense ministry says two people were killed and six injured in the explosion, which the ministry says occurred during testing of a liquid-propellant rocket engine. Multiple reports say radiation briefly spiked in Severodvinsk after the explosion, and that residents were told to stay indoors. One resident said people were told to take iodine. Radiation has now reportedly returned to normal levels.
