Inferno in Paradise
The Burning State of California has seemingly been delivered to the gates of hell, ruled by a Democrat supermajority unchecked and unchallenged for far too long. And this, my friends, is what you get—an unmitigated disaster.
The Golden State looks like a failed state, with its decline marked by the failures of Gavin Newsom and Karen Bass. Thanks to their leadership, California is in shambles, and Los Angeles is an inferno. A blue wave of incompetence has left the state engulfed in one of the worst natural disasters in U.S. history. After decades of one-party rule, chaos reigns in California, and the flames ravage its second-most populous city. The fires—leaving at least 16 dead and more than 23,000 acres burned—serve as irrefutable evidence of gross negligence, mismanagement, and irresponsibility.
The fires burn on, a glaring testament to what can only be described as zero leadership from the Democrats. Lives are lost, livelihoods destroyed, and homes reduced to ashes—all under the watch of leaders who seem oblivious to the magnitude of their failure.
The evidence is everywhere: in the scorched hills and smoldering streets of Pacific Palisades, in Newsom’s lackluster response, and in Bass’s deafening silence. Their inaction—and worse, their indifference—has resulted in immeasurable suffering. Yet Newsom and Bass continue to deny, deflect, and dodge accountability. How much more evidence do we need to declare their governance a catastrophic failure?
The good news? We are just seven short days away from Inauguration Day, with President Trump poised to return to the White House. The contrast between Trump and Newsom could not be starker. Bass, for her part, makes even Newsom seem capable by comparison.
Take, for instance, Bass’s infamous non-responses to reporters’ questions. In one clip, she remains silent, staring blankly ahead as questions about the fires go unanswered. Her behavior suggests she views herself as above accountability, as though her job is ceremonial rather than substantive. Does she believe smiling and waving suffice in the face of disaster? Does she think silence is strength? It is clear she has no plan—or worse, no interest in formulating one.
When Bass does speak, it only adds insult to injury. She claims the city will rebuild, likening the tragedy to the “civil unrest” of 1992. Conveniently, she omits the fact that the “unrest” was a riot resulting in 63 deaths, 2,400 injuries, 12,000 arrests, and over $1 billion in property damage. Bass conflates a man-made catastrophe with a natural disaster, ignoring the common thread: Democratic leadership exacerbated both.
Newsom fares no better. Here is a governor who spends more time attacking President Trump than addressing California’s crises. He talks like a bystander—an observer, a victim—rather than a leader. Newsom complains about Trump’s “weaponized grievance” but says little about efforts to contain the fires or plans for recovery. Why? Because he has no plan.
Instead of leading, Newsom shifts blame, refusing to acknowledge his own shortcomings. He would rather point fingers at a former president than take responsibility for the state’s failings under his watch.
In contrast, here is President Trump, speaking with clarity and purpose. He calls the fire a tragedy and promises to rebuild. In just two minutes, Trump demonstrates more leadership than Newsom has throughout this disaster. Trump’s decisive words and actions channel the spirit of Harry Truman and the grit of Teddy Roosevelt, offering hope to a state in despair.
California may soon follow Trump’s lead. The Golden State must reject Newsom, Bass, and the one-party supermajority that has driven it into ruin. If California is to rebuild and recover, it must embrace real leadership and reject the empty promises of those who have failed it time and again.
The fires have destroyed more than property. They have destroyed Newsom’s political future and Bass’s base of power. Seven days, my friends. Seven more days until change arrives. Let real leadership take the reins and steer California toward a brighter future.
