Flying Frenchman Fails to Cross English Channel

French inventor Franky Zapata failed to cross the English Channel aboard a jet-powered hoverboard, Thursday, July 25. The attempt was meant to pay homage to the first cross-Channel flight by Louis Bleriot 110 years prior. As Zapata was attempting to land midway through his flight for refueling, the boat he was landing on hit a wave, causing Zapata to miss his landing platform. The bottom of the flyboard was damaged, and Zapata fell into the water. He was not injured but he declined to make another attempt on Thursday.
