Families Bury Victims of Afghan Wedding Blast

Families of the victims of a suicide blast at a wedding in Kabul, Afghanistan, laid their loved-ones to rest Sunday, August 18.

A suicide bomber killed 63 people and wounded 182 in an attack on a packed wedding reception in the Afghan capital on Saturday night, the interior ministry said.

The attack came as the Taliban and the United States are trying to negotiate an agreement on the withdrawal of U.S. forces in exchange for a Taliban commitment on security and peace talks with Afghanistan’s U.S.-backed government.

The victims of the overnight suicide bombing at the packed wedding hall were mostly members of the minority Shi’ite Hazara community.

A wedding guest told the French news agency AFP that the bride and groom were saying their vows when the bomb exploded.
