Clinton Praises Trump’s Ukraine Stance, Urges Strong Stand Against Putin
SAN FRANCISCO — Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton expressed cautious approval of President Donald Trump’s recent comments on the Ukraine-Russia conflict, emphasizing the need for a resolute stance against Russian aggression during an appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” Wednesday.
Clinton, speaking from the Common Sense Summit on Kids and Families 2025, referenced Trump’s Tuesday meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the United Nations General Assembly. Following the meeting, Trump posted on Truth Social that Ukraine “is in a position to fight and WIN all of Ukraine back in its original form.”
“I welcomed what the president said yesterday,” Clinton said, stressing that Russian President Vladimir Putin “only responds to strength.” She warned that Putin “poses a clear and present danger to all of Europe, and therefore, to the United States,” underscoring the importance of supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty.
Clinton, who previously suggested Trump could earn a Nobel Peace Prize for brokering a deal to restore Ukraine’s pre-war borders, reiterated her stance. “If President Trump were the architect of that, I’d nominate him,” she said last month on the “Raging Moderates” podcast, highlighting the potential for a diplomatic breakthrough that prioritizes Ukraine’s territorial integrity.
