A Fire of Unbelievable Magnitude in Hawaii and its Possible Causes
Dr. Shawn Rowland of Jase Medical said there are two prevailing theories as to what sparked the fires in Lahaina, Hawaii, on the island of Maui, and how they became so ferocious. One theory says a downed power line sparked a transformer. The second theory says a known brush fire near the area where the fire is believed to have started intensified due to strong wind activity.
